With almost twenty years' experience working on marketing issues for leading corporations around the world, he was previously a partner with and Chief Marketing Officer of Booz-Allen & Hamilton and Vice-Chairman of DMB&B, a top twenty global advertising agency.
Sam Hill joined Booz Allen Hamilton, rising to a lead partner in the worldwide strategy practice. He was based in the Chicago, Sydney and New York offices. For a New Zealand client, he was awarded the Professional Excellence Award, the firm’s highest honor. At the request of the Board, he also served as the Booz Allen’s first Chief Marketing Officer. Hill left Booz Allen to become Vice Chairman and Worldwide Director of Strategy for DMB&B, now Publicis, at that time the twelfth largest ad agency in the world. Two years later he formed Helios, a successful boutique consulting firm based in New York and Chicago. Helios was acquired by FTI Consulting in 2005. Hill retired from full time consulting in 2014.
Sam Hill’s B2C clients have included Allstate, Royal Caribbean, Sunkist, P&G, Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg’s, Gap, Blockbuster, Diageo, Giant Eagle, GM, Supervalu, Ford, and Harley-Davidson. His B2B clients in the U.S. include 3M, CH2M Hill, Wolters Kluwer, Waste Management, Muzak, Xerox, Cigna, Seibel, Taubman, Briggs & Stratton, Young & Rubicam, and Zebra. He has also worked selectively with smaller, less well-known companies, and was recognized as one of “The Best Minds in Small Business” by Fortune magazine. He has judged competitions including the Global Business Book Awards, the EFFIEs, the Fortune SB Student Business Plan and the Thunderbird Marketing Plan Contest and served on the board of FTD.com.
Sam Hill now focuses on writing and speechwriting, particularly major event communications for C-level clients. His work includes three business books, including the bestselling Radical Marketing, and dozens of articles in such magazines as Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Journal, Strategy + Business, Fortune, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Ad Age, Brandweek and CMO Magazine. He has written over a hundred and fifty speeches and scripts for major business forums in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America and for guest lectures at major business schools, as well as board presentations, pitch documents, and other high impact communications.
