Second top scorer in the history of the Mexican First Division, Carlos Hermosillo is one of the top scorers for the Mexican National Team and former head of the National Sports Commission.

Carlos Hermosillo began his career at Club América in 1983, until in 1989, the Standard Liêge of Belgium proposed him to join their ranks and he ventured into an European adventure, but he ended up going back to Mexico with the Monterrey jersey. However, in the following season it is Cruz Azul who is interested in his services, becoming Cruz Azul's top scorer to date.

Carlos Hermosillo also ventured into soccer in the United States with the Los Angeles Galaxy, he has played with different Mexican soccer teams such as Necaxa, Atlante and Guadalajara. He retired from professional soccer in 2001. Upon retiring, Hermosillo traveled to Spain to train as a sports director. Upon his return, he joined the National Sports Commission as Deputy Director, then became an advisor on sports matters to President Felipe Calderón, and was appointed head of the National Sports Commission. He was President of the American Sports Council, candidate for Federal Deputy. And currently Carlos Hermosillo works in the Secretariat for Relations with Society, in the National Executive Committee of the National Action Party.
