Bob Woodward Bob Woodward

Bob Woodward is one of the most renowned American investigative journalists and political commentators of our times and currently serves as an associate editor of The Washington Post, where he began working as a reporter in 1971. He has shared in two Pulitzer Prizes, first for the coverage of the Watergate scandal with Carl Bernstein, and second as the lead reporter for coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. In his years at the Post, Woodward has continued to write exclusive and riveting front-page stories.

Woodward was born in Geneva, Illinois on March 26, 1943. He enrolled in Yale University in 1961 and studied history and English literature.  He received his B.A. degree in 1965, and began a five-year tour of duty in the U.S. Navy. After being discharged as a lieutenant in 1970, Woodward began his career at the Post in 1971. Just one year after joining the Post, Woodward and Carl Bernstein teamed up and began reporting on the Watergate scandal. Their work in the Post was regularly denounced by the Nixon re-election campaign, Republican leaders and the White House.

Woodward’s book with Bernstein about their investigation of the Watergate scandal, All the President’s Men, became a #1 national bestseller in the spring and summer before Nixon resigned in 1974.

Bob has been a recipient of nearly every other major American journalism award, including the Heywood Broun award (1972), Worth Bingham Prize for Investigative Reporting (1972 and 1986), Sigma Delta Chi Award (1973), George Polk Award (1972), William Allen White Medal (2000), and the Gerald R. Ford Prize for Reporting on the Presidency (2002).  He has authored or coauthored 20 books, all of which have been national non-fiction bestsellers. Woodward has written #1 best-selling books on the last nine presidents—Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton, George W. Bush, Obama and Trump—as well as the CIA, the Joint Chiefs, Hollywood and the Supreme Court.

Woodward’s latest book was published this week and it’s titled Peril; a collaboration with author Robert Costa, Peril dissects the tense transition period between Donald Trump’s and Joe Biden’s presidency, and chronicles with hard facts how it was far more than just a domestic political crisis.

Peril is the result of hours of interviews, with testimonies from more than 200 people and more than 6,000 pages of transcripts that paint the definitive portrait of a nation in turmoil. This book is a follow up in the series of books Woowdward authored about former President Trump, including Fear: Trump in the White House, a New York Times and International #1 bestseller from 2018, and 2020’s Rage, which includes stunning new details about early national security decisions and operations and Trump’s moves as he faces a global pandemic, economic disaster and racial unrest.
